What
Glass Street Live is an annual, free, family-friendly block party that celebrates the Glass Street neighborhood in East Chattanooga. This will be the second year that the celebration is committee-led + facilitated by neighborhood residents in partnership with Glass House Collective.
When + Where
Sat., Nov. 6 | 12-4 p.m. | Intersection between Glass Street + North Chamberlain Avenue
Why
Glass House Collective — a nonprofit dedicated to driving economic development, public art, and community conversation in the historic Glass Street neighborhood — saw how Chattanooga’s annual MAINx24 celebration boosted the Southside neighborhood, and wanted to bring a similar experience to East Chattanooga back in 2012.
After last year was canceled due to COVID-19, Glass Street Live is back to highlight the good in the neighborhood + invest in local acts, performers, artists, and residents.
In the words of Glass House Collective’s director Teal Thibaud, the event is “a good way to highlight and celebrate everything that’s happening here, and invite the rest of Chattanooga to see that + celebrate together.”

Locals Anna Taylor + Emily Powers are working together to bring an exciting Instagram and Tik Tok concept, silent reading parties, to Chattanooga.
Originally founded in Seattle (hey, SEAtoday 👋), the concept of silent reading parties is pretty simple: a group of bookworms meets at a location, and they read, drink, and eat in complete silence — and can only communicate via pen + paper, no phones allowed.
While nothing is set in stone yet, the pair is talking with a local cocktail bar about hosting the first event sometime in December. 📚

In an effort to not purchase gifts last minute, we're working to get our local gift guide out earlier this year, but we want your help — which local shops or gifts are tried + true for you (or which ones are already on your wish list this year)?
Let us know, and we may feature it in an upcoming local holiday gift guide. 🎁
