The lighter colors of the asphalt mural recently received a fresh coat of paint. | Photo by @goodwithfaces

The asphalt mural on Glass Street just got a refresher. Local artist + muralist Kevin Bate originally painted the mural in April 2021 as a part of the Glass Street Gateway project.
The mural was designed by Bate and students at Hardy Elementary School with funding from Bloomberg Philanthropiesā Asphalt Art Initiative, which helps cities āuse art and community engagement to improve street safety + revitalize public space.ā
The design was eventually brought to life through a community-wide labor of love, and the one-of-a-kind mural is enjoyed by all members of the local community.
Want to add a little sunshine to your day? You can see the block-long mural on the corner of Crutchfield and Glass Streets.
